How To Remove Press On Nails
Removal: Easy, Gentle & Damage Free!
When it’s time for a change, here’s how to remove your press ons - without causing damage to your natural nails or the press ons.
Important: No Forcing Allowed!
If you applied your nails with glue, do not try to pull them off! Instead, wait until they start to naturally lift - this makes removal much easier and safer.
The Soak-Off Method
1. Prep Your Removal Station
- Fill a small bowl with warm, soapy water.
- Add a generous amount of cuticle or olive oil to help break down the adhesive while keeping your nails (and press ons) in great condition.
2. Soak & Be Patient
- Place your fingertips in the bowl and soak for 10-15 minutes.
- Gently wiggle the press ons from side to side - if they don’t budge, soak for a few more minutes and add more oil!
3. Lift, Don’t Rip!
- Once the nails have naturally lifted, gently slide them off using a cuticle stick.
- If you want to reuse them, be extra gentle! Avoid bending or pulling at the nails.
4. Remove Any Glue Residue
- If any glue remains on your natural nails, apply more cuticle oil and let it sit before gently buffing it away.
If you want to reuse your press ons:
- Use a gentle nail buffer to remove glue from the back of the press ons.
- If glue is stubborn, let the nails soak in warm, soapy water and oil for a bit longer before buffing.
- Avoid acetone - it can break down the press on material!
5. Store & Reuse!
- Once clean and dry, store your press ons in their original box or a small container to keep them safe.
